1976 - Reggie Leach scores 5 goals in playoff game
Philadelphia Flyers forward Reggie Leach scored five goals against the Boston Bruins on this day in 1976 to send the Flyers to their third straight Stanley Cup final.
Leach enjoyed his most prolific season in 1975-76, scoring a career-high 61 goals and 91 points during the regular season and adding 19 goals in 16 playoff contests.
The Flyers became the first expansion team to win the Stanley Cup in 1974 and 1975 but were unable to defend the title in 1976, losing to the Montreal Canadiens in four games. Leach's performance earned him the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs.
