Flames resuscitate old Atlanta Flames logo for new AHL affiliate
The Calgary Flames shuttered their British Columbia-based American Hockey League affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat, this spring, and on Friday officially unveiled their new affiliate organization based in Glen Falls, NY.
The team will be called the Adirondack Flames, which is convenient, since the "A" in Adirondack allows the Flames to bring back a historic hockey logo:

It's the flaming "A" from the original Atlanta Flames franchise! Neat.
New Calgary Flames general manager Brad Treliving was at the announcement in Glen Falls, and promised the city a team they could be proud of:

Hopefully the citizens of Glen Falls support their new American Hockey League team with a passion that burns as brightly as the cataclysmic fires during the Atlanta Campaign (from whence the Atlanta Flames originally took their name). Also, hopefully, this agreement is fruitful and lasts longer than Calgary's short-lived AHL experiments in Abbotsford and Quad City, the latter existing for only two seasons before it was "Gone with the Wind."
