VIDEO: Alex Ovechkin sustains apparent leg injury at World Hockey Championship
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and the Russian national men's hockey team had enjoyed some smooth sailing at the 2014 World Hockey Championship, amassing a 5-0 record going into Sunday's match-up with Germany.
However, an open-ice hit by German forward Marcus Kink - who plays professional hockey for Adler Mannheim of the DEL - could have repercussions running significantly deeper than just Russia's bid at the Championship.

According to Stephen Whyno of the Canadian Press, Ovechkin was writhing in pain, and stayed on the ice for two minutes following the hit. You can see the hit here:
