Top NHL prospect Jake Virtanen is expected to miss four-to-six months after undergoing successful shoulder surgery.
The 6-foot-one, 210 pound winger amassed 45 goals and 71 points in 71 games with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL last season, and is the 10th ranked skater by the International Scouting Service for the upcoming NHL draft.
Following Calgary's ousting from the WHL playoffs, Virtanen represented Canada at the U18 World Hockey Championships, tallying six points in seven games en route to a bronze medal.
