Report: Penguins to re-introduce gold into color scheme next season with third jersey

The Pittsburgh Penguins haven't worn "black and yellow/black and yellow/black and yellow" jerseys - like the sweaters made iconic by Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis and Jaromir Jagr in the 90s - in over a decade. 

That will change next season, however, according to a report from the Pittsburgh Star-Tribune's Rob Rossi:

he Penguins expect to introduce an alternate jersey to be worn for select games next season. One confirmable detail about the third jersey is the return of Pittsburgh Gold to the team's uniforms for the first time since 2001-02 season. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury said he has ordered yellow leg pads and gloves to be worn when the Penguins' don the alternate jerseys.

This is great news for hockey fans weened on hockey in the 90s, people who dislike baby blue, and for supporters of aesthetics generally.
