Report: Red Wings trying to trade Tootoo, will buyout his contract if they can't move him
Ron Chenoy / USA TODAY Sports
As expected, the Detroit Red Wings will reportedly exercise their remaining compliance buyout on the final year of forward Jordin Tootoo's contract this summer. But first they'll exhaust other avenues, and buyout Tootoo only if they're unable to find a taker for the fourth-line grinder in a potential trade:

Tootoo spent the majority of this past season with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Never a big point producer, Tootoo's two-way effectiveness has atrophied significantly over the past handful of seasons.
