Islanders promote Doug Weight to AGM, hire ex-Leafs assistant Greg Cronin

The New York Islanders have promoted ex-Islanders forward, U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer, and assistant coach Doug Weight to the role of assistant general manager. Weight will be a dual assistant coach and executive, as he'll retain his coaching responsibilities in his new role.
In addition to promoting Weight, the Islanders have also hired ex-Toronto Maple Leafs assistant coach Greg Cronin to replace him. Cronin was among the cadre of Maple Leafs assistant coaches who bit the bullet following Toronto's epic late season losing streak.
