Canucks select Thatcher Demko in second round of NHL Draft

The Vancouver Canucks drafted top-ranked goaltender Thatcher Demko with the 36th overall pick (second round) in the 2014 NHL entry draft.
Demko, from San Diego, California, appeared in the NCAA's Frozen Four tournament last season with Boston College. The 6'4, 192 lb goaltender recorded 16 wins through 24 appearances in his freshman year.
As a member of Team USA at the Under-18 World Championships in 2013, Demko started all seven games of the tournament and helped the team to a silver medal.
