Report: Wild target Matt Niskanen in free agent search

The Minnesota Wild are saving their money for a defenseman, namely Matt Niskanen, who played four seasons with the Dallas Stars and was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins along with James Neal in 2011.
Niskanen will become a free agent and is from Virginia, Minn. The Wild are hoping he'll opt to move to his hometown state, but general manager Chuck Fletcher isn't holding his breath.
"We've tried to be aggressive if the move makes sense, but there's times, too, where you need to take what’s there. Sometimes you have to lay off the pitch."
