The Ottawa Senators have reportedly dealt captain Jason Spezza to the Dallas Stars, according to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun. The deal is awaiting confirmation from the league offices, but includes three forwards and a draft pick, reports Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.
TSN's Bob McKenzie has the details of the trade:
DAL trades Alec Chiasson, Alex Guptill, Nicholas Paul and 2nd round pick in 2015 to OTT for Jason Spezza and Ludvig Karlsson. #TSN

The Senators were reportedly insistent on netting a first round pick in the return for Spezza over draft weekend, obviously that hasn't happened and the Senators had to settle for a second round pick.
Alex Chiasson is the major piece for the Senators here. The 6-foot-3 forward managed 13 goals and 35 points as a 23-year-old in Dallas last season.
As for the Stars, they'll now be able to go with Spezza, Tyler Seguin, and Cody Eakin down the middle of their forward group. That makes them frightening, in an already loaded Western Conference.
A contract extension for Spezza was not part of the deal, reports McKenzie. So essentially the Stars have just purchased a full season rental at a premium price.
Spezza will return to Kanata, On. to face his former team for the first time on January 29, when the Senators host the Stars.
