The Florida Panthers found a backup for Roberto Luongo in free agency by signing Al Montoya to a two-year deal.

Montoya made a case to steal the Winnipeg Jets' starting job from Ondrej Pavelec last season, posting an even-strength save percentage of .925 in 28 appearances.
