Canucks sign Chris Tanev to 1-year, $2M contract extension

The Vancouver Canucks signed defenseman Chris Tanev to a one-year contract extension Saturday, according to general manager Jim Benning.

Tanev, 24, registered a career high 17 points (6 goals, 11 assists) and 8 penalty minutes in 64 games with the Canucks in 2013-14, and finished tied for first on the team in blocked shots with 136.
In four years of NHL experience, Tanev, undrafted, amassed eight goals and 19 assists, and averaged over 20 minutes of ice time per game this past season.
