Stars GM Jim Nill on not changing defense: 'We think we're going to be just fine'
The Dallas Stars have made many upgrades this offseason, trading for Jason Spezza, and signing forwards Ales Hemsky and Patrick Eaves on July 1. They also signed goaltender Anders Lindback.
They've improved their roster, there's no doubt about that. However, their defense remains untouched.
General manager Jim Nill told The Dallas Morning News, "I’m excited about our defense."
With the likes of Trevor Daley and Alex Goligoski improving their play as the season progressed, Nil wasn't eager to overhaul the blue line.
"I think when those two started playing together and started playing big minutes, they formed a chemistry and just took off," Nill said.
He continued to explain the young talent they have in the AHL is where his confidence comes from.
"We've got three or four young kids that are knocking on the door from the Calder Cup championship down in Texas. We think we've got lots of different options. We know they're all going to get better. We think we're going to be just fine."
Nill is just following the plan he set out at the beginning of the offseason. It's worked out well so far.
