Report: Bruins come to terms with Matt Bartkowski on 1-year, $1.25 million contract
The Boston Bruins have come to terms with arbitration eligible defenseman Matt Bartkowski, signing the 26-year-old defender to a one-year contract worth $1.25 million per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
A 7th-round pick from the 2008 NHL draft, Bartkowski logged top-four minutes for the Bruins in the regular season and was second to only Zdeno Chara in even-strength minutes logged per game in the playoffs. While the Bruins outscored their opponents by a wide margin with Bartkowski facing secondary competition last season, the two-way defender didn't manage a goal and contributed only 18 assists.
By agreeing to terms on a one-year contract, the Bruins and Bartkowski avoid a potentially acrimonious salary arbitration hearing, which had been scheduled for July 30th.
