Report: Bruins sign F Jordan Caron to 1-year, 1-way, $600K contract

The Boston Bruins have come to terms with restricted free agent forward Jordan Caron on a one-year, one-way contract worth $600,000, according to a report from TVA's Renaud Lavoie.

A first-round pick of the Bruins in 2009, Caron is big and talented but hasn't been able to put it all together at the professional level to this point in his career. His career rate of 0.53 points per game at the AHL level doesn't exactly suggest that Caron is a future top-six forward; and the combination of his being prone to taking bad penalties and his unimpressive puck possession numbers at the NHL level make him ill-suited to third-line duty.

Caron was the last Bruins player to be tendered a qualifying offer at the June 30 deadline, and would seem to be running out of opportunities to prove himself at the NHL level. On a one-way contract he's guaranteed an NHL-level salary for at least this upcoming season, he's also guaranteed an opportunity due to Boston's crippling salary cap situation.

If he doesn't impress this fall, it wouldn't be a huge surprise were he to end up on waivers at some point this season.
