Panthers sign Brandon Pirri to 2-year contract extension

The Florida Panthers have agreed to a two-year contract extension with skilled centerman Brandon Pirri, the club announced Wednesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed and have not been reported.
The 23-year-old appeared in 49 NHL games with the Panthers and Chicago Blackhawks last season, recording 25 points while logging limited minutes in an offensively calibrated role.
Though Pirri is marginally undersized, he's been a consistently and prolific scorer at the AHL level, managing 0.84 points per game over 238 games played. If he can round out his two-way game over the next couple of years in Broward County, he could be an immensely useful top-six piece.
