Jets agree to terms with RFA D Ben Chiarot on 1-year, 2-way contract worth $600K
The Winnipeg Jets have agreed to terms with defenseman Ben Chiarot on a one-year, two-way contract worth $600,000 at the NHL level, the club announced on Tuesday.
Chiarot, 23, appeared in one game with the Jets last season, finishing that contest with a minus-3. In 65 games with the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League, Chiarot managed six goals and 20 points. He also appeared in 21 games in the Calder Cup playoffs, as the IceCaps qualified for the Calder Cup final.
With Chiarot now under contract, the Jets have locked up every restricted free agent that they qualified. Winger Michael Frolik remains unsigned and has a club-elected salary arbitration hearing scheduled for July 31. The Jets and Frolik are expected to avoid arbitration, and are working on a long-term extension for the Czech-born winger.
