"Heeere's Joni!"

The Calgary Flames have signed restricted free agent goaltender Joni Ortio, 23, to a two-year contract, the club announced on Thursday. According to capgeek.com it's a hybrid-type contract, a two-way deal which becomes a one-way deal in the second year of the contract. With Flames goaltenders Jonas Hiller and Karri Ramo already signed to one-way contracts for next season, that makes sense.

The Finnish-born netminder appeared in nine games with the Flames during his rookie season, managing an underwhelming .891 save percentage. Despite his lukewarm showing at the NHL level, Ortio was dominant with the Abbotsford Flames in 2013-14, appearing in 37 AHL games and stopping .926 percent of all shots faced.
