Capitals sign Australian Nathan Walker to entry-level contract
The Washington Capitals have agreed to terms with Australian-born winger Nathan Walker, 20, on a three-year, entry-level contract the club announced on Friday.
The 2014 third-round pick earned an AHL contract from the Capitals this past season and managed 11 points in 43 games with the Hershey Bears during the 2013-14 campaign.
The diminutive forward - he's listed at 5-foot-9 - is the first Australian player to be drafted by an NHL team. If he makes it to the show, he'll become the first Mighty Roos player in history to play a game at the NHL level.
