'Firm and binding settlement' reached in Steve Moore's lawsuit against Todd Bertuzzi

A lawyer representing Todd Bertuzzi confirmed Tuesday evening that a "firm and binding settlement" has been reached in Steve Moore's lawsuit against the former Vancouver Canucks forward, as per TSN.ca.

Geoff Adair said the terms of the settlement are bound by a confidentiality agreement, and added, "Suffice it to say, Todd Bertuzzi is happy this has arrived at a resolution, as I'm sure all parties are."

The suit was filed over an incident that took place in a game between the Canucks and the Colorado Avalanche back in March of 2004, when Bertuzzi punched Moore from behind, leaving him with a concussion and three broken vertebrae.

Moore has not appeared in a National Hockey League game since that fateful night.

In an email sent to The Canadian Press on Tuesday afternoon, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said, "We are pleased that the resolution of this matter allows the parties to turn the page and look to the future."

Bertuzzi, 39, played for the Detroit Red Wings for the past five seasons, and is now an unrestricted free agent.
