The Montreal Canadiens will welcome forward Drayson Bowman to training camp on a professional tryout basis, his agent - Don Meehan - confirmed to TVA Sports on Tuesday.
Bowman, 25, was selected in the third round of the 2007 NHL Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes; he appeared in a career high 70 games for Carolina last season, scoring four goals and adding eight assists. His two-year, $1.2-million contract with the Hurricanes expired on July 1.
In 176 career games, Bowman totaled 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists).
There will be at least one familiar face at training camp. Bowman won the Memorial Cup alongside goalie Dustin Tokarski as a member of the WHL's Spokane Chiefs in 2008.
