Senators, Methot met face-to-face Tuesday; 'no closer to a deal'

The Ottawa Senators and representatives for pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Marc Methot met at the table Tuesday but came away "no closer" to ironing out an extension.
"We're at different levels (in the) contract discussion at the moment and that's all," Murray said via Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun. "There's not much. We're just going to continue to talk. We did make a promise that within a week we'll have further discussions."
Methot is entering the final season of the four-year, $12 million deal he signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets before being shipped to Ottawa two summers ago.
He scored six goals, 23 points and authored a 52.1 Corsi For rating in 75 games last season.
