It looks like Randy Carlyle's toaster may have fried HBO's interest in the NHL.
Sportsnet 590 The Fan's Greg Brady was the first to report that HBO "walked" from their partnership with the NHL and will no longer produce the popular 24/7 series this season.
John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal has since confirmed the report with sources from HBO who explain that "the door remains open for the future."
The Washington Capitals and Chicago Blackhawks will skate in this season's Winter Classic on Jan. 1 at Nationals Park in Washington.
