Alex Ovechkin says his right knee is now pain-free.
"My knee doesn't bother me," the Washington Capitals star told reporters Thursday, via The Associated Press. "Everything feels fine and [is] 100 percent."
Ovechkin suffered a leg injury in the third period of Russia's game against Germany at the world hockey championships in May, but returned later in the tournament.
The Capitals' captain said he has been working out for the past month, and that it took about two months for his knee to heal.
Asked about whether he would play left or right wing this season under Barry Trotz, Ovechkin deferred to the team's new head coach.
"Ask him about it. He's the coach and he's going to make the decision."
