The Chicago Blackhawks are hoping to extract a little more service from former third-overall selection Cam Barker, inviting the journeyman blue liner to training camp.
After being selected with their top pick in 2004, Barker played 200 games with the Blackhawks between 2005 and 2010, scoring 17 goals and 80 points.
He spent last season with Astana Barys of the KHL after failing to lock down employment in North America.
