NHL draft prospect and Massachusetts native Jack Eichel says he's a Canadiens fan
You won't find too many Montreal Canadiens fans from Massachusetts, but NHL draft prospect Jack Eichel appears to be one of them.
The Boston University forward reportedly told TSN's Bob McKenzie that he's a fan of the Bruins' biggest rivals.
I am a Montreal Canadiens fan. I know I probably shouldn't be saying this but I really like their tradition and there's so much passion in Montreal. I really like their style of play. They've got so much speed and they're always really attacking the opposing team. I'm a Bruins fan at heart but I also really like the Canadiens.
The 17-year-old (who grew up in North Chelmsford about 45 minutes from Boston) won't get a lot of sympathy from locals about his dual fandom, especially given the near-century-long rivalry between the two clubs.
It's unlikely either team will have the opportunity to draft him, so he'll need to add a third team to the mix when the 2015 draft rolls around.
