The Calgary Flames released veteran defenseman Sheldon Brookbank from a professional tryout offer, the club reported through its Twitter account.
The unrestricted free agent believed he had a shot to crack the roster, but will now be looking elsewhere to keep his hockey career going.
Brookbank appeared in 48 games for the Chicago Blackhawks last season, scoring two goals, adding five assists and registering 52 penalty minutes while averaging 12:53 of ice time per game.
