Jets' Bogosian: Evander Kane is 'just a little misunderstood'
Evander Kane has his share of critics, but one of his long-time teammates says the Winnipeg Jets forward isn't what the media makes him out to be.
“I think if you sit Evander down and have a one-on-one conversation with him, I’d guess the people that would probably say a lot of those (negative) things about him, their minds would change because they realize he is a kind person," Jets defenseman Zach Bogosian told Sportsnet 590 The FAN.
"He is a good guy, and I think he’s just a little misunderstood,” Bogosian said. “I think he’s handled (criticism) great. Not a lot of personal stuff gets to Evander. I’ve played with him for six years now, and it’s something that everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.”
Bogosian was drafted third overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2008, and Kane was selected fourth overall by the team the following summer. They've been teammates for their entire careers.
Kane raised eyebrows during the lockout for tweeting a picture of himself holding a stack of money up to his ear like a phone. Head coach Paul Maurice made the forward a healthy scratch before a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, later hinting it was due to tardiness.
The Jets have Kane under contract for the next four years at a cap hit of $5.25 million per season.
