Dallas Stars winger Erik Cole will watch his team open a new season against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday from the press box.
Lindy Ruff confirms Erik Cole is a healthy scratch tonight after being late for practice Monday. Patrick Eaves will take spot on 2nd line.

In line for a plum assignment on the second line alongside Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky, Cole, 35, will instead serve as a cautionary tale for his young Stars teammates looking to make a serious jump again this season.
