The Florida Panthers began their season on a dubious note, setting a franchise record for lowest attendance at a home opener. But their second contest of the season at BB&T Center appears to be even more sparsely attended.

The Panthers posted the second-lowest home attendance last season, attracting an average of 14,177 fans.
Update: the official attendance for Monday's game was announced as 7,311, shattering the old franchise record for lowest home game attendance, which was 10,063 for a game against the Carolina Hurricanes in 2007.
