Hurricanes' Sekera day-to-day with upper-body injury

There hasn't been much in the way of good news for the Carolina Hurricanes in the early going this season, but they received a spot of good fortune this week when top-pairing defender Andrej Sekera escaped more or less unscathed from a nasty collision with the end boards Tuesday night.
Coach Peters said Sekera is just very sore today. He is day-to-day with an upper-body injury from last night.

Sekera is apparently "real sore," according to Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters, who considers Sekera lucky:
Peters says of Sekera's injury that he thought he might have broken his neck.

The reliable defender and pending unrestricted free agent could return as soon as Thursday against the New York Rangers.
