Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic apologized for an obscene gesture made in the penalty box during Wednesday's loss at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
The gesture was directed to Canadiens fans giving him the gears for being assessed a late penalty, and the apology was directed to them as well.
"They get under your skin but they're still great fans," Lucic said, according to Stephen Whyno of the Canadian Press.
"Obviously not proud of what I did there," he added.
Lucic: "I’ve just got to do a better job of controlling my emotions. ... Another lesson learned."

Boston's next visit to Montreal is scheduled for Nov. 23, where Lucic is sure to receive a warm welcome from the Canadiens faithful.
