Canucks recall D Frank Corrado from Utica
The Vancouver Canucks have recalled 21-year-old defenseman Frank Corrado from the Utica Comets, the club announced Saturday.
The move bolsters Vancouver's defensive depth, which took a hit when third-pairing blue-liner Ryan Stanton was injured during the Canucks' 2-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Friday. Stanton is listed as having a lower-body injury and will not play Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. This means that power play specialist, and Swiss Olympian, Yannick Weber will get into the Canucks lineup.
The Corrado recall would suggest that Stanton's injury may keep him out of the lineup for the short-to-medium term.
Corrado, a pending restricted free agent, has appeared in 22 NHL games with the Canucks (regular season and playoffs included) over the past two seasons.
