Islanders ownership partner's message to fans: 'Fifth ring'
The New York Islanders introduced new ownership partners Scott Malkin and Jon Ledecky on Wednesday, and the latter stated the pair has one goal in mind: the Stanley Cup.
The Islanders won four straight Stanley Cups from 1980-83, but haven't come within a sniff of sports' greatest trophy since that time.
Malkin and Ledecky will serve as minority owners under Charles Wang for their first two years, assuming majority control at that point, with Wang remaining a minority owner.
As such, Malkin stated, "Right now it's Charles's team. We're going to learn."
"We're going to be on a listening tour for two years; listening to the fans, making sure they have a smooth transition to Brooklyn," Ledecky added.
Malkin, on behalf of the pair, also said, "We're thrilled to be here. It's a great honor to participate in the tradition of the Islanders."
The club jumped out to a 4-2-0 start this season, and with new owners on board and a move to Brooklyn set for next year, things are looking up for the Islanders.
