Slava Voynov's wife vouches for husband's innocence, says he didn't intend to hurt her
Marta Varlamova, the alleged victim in Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov's domestic violence suit, is siding with her husband.
She issued a statement through her representative team Saturday, stating that Voynov did not intentionally harm her and that she wishes the charges to be dropped.
"She did not ask that he be arrested or prosecuted and does not want that now,’" her lawyer, Michael Walsh, told Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register.
"She doesn't think that Slava did anything to try to hurt her."
Walsh admitted Voynov's wife suffered injuries, but denied they were caused by being "punched or struck," while Varlamova reportedly denied being afraid of her husband when speaking with authorities.
Voynov was arrested Monday and quickly suspended indefinitely following the incident.
