The Calgary Flames have placed Mikael Backlund on injured reserve, the club announced Thursday.
The center was limited in training camp with an abdominal injury, and recorded only one goal and three assists in 11 games so far this season. The 25-year-old set career highs with 18 goals and 21 assists in 76 games in 2013-14.
Backlund is considered week-to-week.
