Hall of Famer Forsberg on Maple Leafs' Nylander: 'He's going to be fantastic'
Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Peter Forsberg, a two-time Stanley Cup winner, is familiar with what it takes to be a top player in the NHL. As the assistant general manager of SHL club Modo, he's also familiar with top Toronto Maple Leafs prospect William Nylander, who is currently plying his trade for the Ornskoldsvik, Sweden-based club.
Forsberg lavished Nylander with praise on Saturday.
"Every time he touches the puck, something happens," Forsberg said of the talented 18-year-old forward, according to Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun.
"Hopefully he will get the strength to be able to play over here," Forsberg continued. "Because he's going to be fantastic."
Nylander is currently lighting up the SHL, to the tune of five goals and 14 points in 10 games this season. For a unseasoned forward playing against men in a tough professional league, that level of production is extraordinary.
The Calgary-born Swedish international is scheduled to play hockey in Toronto shortly, as a member of Team Sweden's U20 men's squad at the 2015 World Junior Championships this December and January.
