The Dallas Stars confidently traded for forward Jason Spezza during the summer and made it clear signing the veteran was a priority.
TSN's Bob McKenzie reports Spezza and the Stars are close to that goal:

In 18 games Spezza scored 16 points and is fitting in nicely on the top line with linemates Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn.
Spezza is coming off a seven-year, $49-million contract signed with the Ottawa Senators in 2008. He made an average of $7 million per season.
