Avalache's Tanguay leaves game after taking Ovechkin slap shot to face, doesn't return

Colorado Avalanche forward Alex Tanguay left Thursday night's game against the Washington Capitals midway through the second period after taking an Alex Ovechkin slapshot to the face.

The puck traveled up Tanguay's extended stick and hit him in the jaw. He left the ice immediately and went to the dressing room.

He did not return to the game.
