VIDEO: Nikolay Kulemin fights off two Penguins defenders, scores pretty goal
In the first leg of back-to-back games between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Islanders on Friday night, it was the supporting forwards - players like second line winger Nikolay Kulemin - who did all of the damage in the early going.
In a high-scoring game, the big superstars playing in Friday's contest - a group that includes Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, John Tavares and Kyle Okposo - combined for just one point, a Malkin secondary assist.
So it fell to New York and Pittsburgh's respective depth players to sort things out and in the first period Kulemin did just that, beating two Penguins defenders and Marc-Andre Fleury for a highlight reel goal:
