VIDEO: Milan Lucic gets 1-punched by Blue Jackets' Prout
Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic is one of the most imposing heavyweight fighters in hockey, but Columbus Blue Jackets defender Dalton Prout isn't intimidated by him.
Prout and Lucic fought almost exactly a year ago, and Prout held his own. They sort of went at it again following Friday night's game between the Bruins and the Blue Jackets. This time, Prout got the best of Lucic a bit too early for it to really be called a fight - even the on-ice officials just handed out minor penalties for roughing, though Lucic was also assessed a 10-minute game misconduct:
That's a serious one-punch!
"Every once in a while you catch a guy on the chin like that," Prout explained post game, according to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.
As for Lucic's post-fight tantrum, Prout defended his actions.
"As soon as he grabbed me by the collar and looked away … it’s on," Prout said, according to Portzline. "We’re both guys who have been in altercations."
"It’s flipping switches. As far as I was concerned we were engaged in a fight. I have no idea what he was screaming," Prout continued.
In his NHL career Lucic has mastered the art of the gloved sucker punch, so maybe he has a unique definition of what constitutes the rightful beginning of a fair fight.
