NHL commissioner Bettman: Minnesota outdoor game is 'going to happen'
The Minnesota Wild will host an outdoor game, according to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.
Bettman joined FOX Sports North during the first intermission of Wednesday's game between the Wild and the Montreal Canadiens and confirmed as much to reporter Kevin Gorg.
"It's going to happen," Bettman said. "Obviously, there may be no better place to play an outdoor game. The facilities are here. The last time I was here, last winter, we took a look at a couple of venues."
The commissioner did not provide a date or any additional specifics but said there are a number of factors that make Minnesota an attractive venue for an outdoor game.
"It's really a question of timing and whether or not we do a Winter Classic or one of the Stadium Series games," he said. "But when you look at the fan base, the facilities, the organization and the weather, an outdoor game will work here, and we'll bring it here."
