This Day in Hockey History
1992 - Forberg's 10-point performance at WJHC
19-year-old Peter Forsberg sets a World Junior Hockey Championship record with 10 points in Sweden's 20-1 win over Japan.
Forsberg goes on to finish the tournament with a record 31 points in seven games, seven points ahead of countryman Markus Naslund, who winds up second on the all-time scoring list with 24 points at the same event.
Sweden, however, finishes second to Canada in the round-robin format, and Forsberg is left with a silver medal for his efforts.
2000 - Milestones for the Penguins
Mario Lemieux scores a goal and adds 3 assists to become the tenth NHL player to reach 1,500 career points. In the same game - a 5-3 win for the Pittsburgh Penguins over the visiting Ottawa Senators - Jaromir Jagr records two goals and an assist to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
Lemieux and Jagr rank first and second on the club's all-time scoring list, while the latter recently passed the former in the NHL's scoring record books. Lemieux finished his career with 1,723 points, while Jagr - still active - sits at 1,776 and counting.
