Oilers assign rookie Draisaitl to CHL

The Edmonton Oilers have assigned rookie center Leon Draisaitl back to the Canadian Hockey League.
The Oilers announced the move Sunday.
He scored two goals and added seven assists in 37 games. The NHL club elected not to loan him to Germany for the World Junior Hockey Championship, which began last month.
"We wish Leon the best going back to junior," Oilers interim head coach Todd Nelson said Sunday. "It's a good opportunity for him to hone his skills."
Meanwhile, Draisaitl's rights are reportedly on the verge of being dealt from the WHL's Prince Albert Raiders to the Kelowna Rockets, according to TSN's Ryan Rishaug.
Draisaitl assigned to The CHL, trade certainly coming in next day or two.
