Joe Thornton on possible All-Star team selection: 'I’m planning on going to Cabo'
Though San Jose Sharks forward Joe Thornton remains his team's most important player, he isn't likely to be an All-Star selection Saturday when the NHL announces the remaining participants for the 2015 All-Star game.
Not being invited to the NHL's irregularly held corporate pageant suits Thornton just fine anyway. After all, he'd rather spend his time off in warmer climes.
"I’m planning on going to Cabo to be honest with you," Thornton responded jokingly when asked about possibly being invited to participate in All-Star weekend by CSNBayArea.com's Kevin Kurz on Saturday. "But thanks for the question."
That's totally fair enough. It's probably a good thing also. If there was one place where Thornton might score four goals in a game and make good on his classic threat, it's in a glorified defense-optional scrimmage like the All-Star game.
