Senators GM Murray: Craig Anderson unlikely to be traded

Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray is not planning to trade goaltender Craig Anderson in the near future.

"Why would I do that at this point?" Murray told TSN 1200 on Monday. 

"We don’t have a third goaltender. Robin (Lehner) is close to being ready, but he’s got to play more games. If you don’t have goaltending in this league, you don’t have anything. We know that."

Murray said netminders who could match Anderson's level of play are few and far between.

“We can’t get rid of a guy and then not be able to find a guy who can come in and play at that caliber. We know that’s not going to happen. It’s unlikely that Craig Anderson is going anywhere but the net in Ottawa."

Anderson has appeared in 29 of the team's 44 games, posting a record of 12-11-6 with a 2.33 goals-against average and .927 save percentage.

The Senators occupy seventh place in the Atlantic Division - 10 points out of an Eastern Conference playoff spot.
