Could the Calgary Flames be the Los Angeles Kings' means to an end?
Flames general manager Brad Treliving has discussed the possibility of taking on high-priced fourth-line center Mike Richards, according to Eric Francis of the Calgary Sun. Richards is on minor-league assignment from the Kings after clearing waivers.
Richards helped Los Angeles win two Stanley Cups over the last three seasons, but has seen his role diminish considerably since being acquired in 2011.
The Kings freed up $925,000 in salary by demoting the former front-line contributor, but they remain on the hook for his $5.75-million salary through 2020.
