Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson caught Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier napping at the start of the third period Thursday.
Ekman-Larsson fired a shot from Arizona's blue line that somehow fooled Bernier, tying the game five seconds into the third. The nature of the goal brought back painful memories of Vesa Toskala for Toronto fans.
The Coyotes were shorthanded when the goal was scored, adding insult to injury.
"I didn't see it," a disappointed Bernier told reporters after the game.
