St. Louis Blues forward David Backes was given a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for doing this to Washington Capitals defenseman Karl Alzner on Sunday.
The Capitals failed to score on the ensuing five-minute power play, but it may not be the last we hear about the hit.
After the game, head coach Ken Hitchcock said no update on Backes' condition would be provided until Monday.
