Oilers prospect Ty Rimmer recovering after testicular cancer surgery
Minor league goaltender Ty Rimmer's toughest battle occurred away from the crease.
Rimmer, an Edmonton Oilers prospect playing for the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL, announced over Twitter that he'd been diagnosed with testicular cancer but expects to make a full recovery after undergoing successful surgery.
(1/4) Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. The tumor was surgically removed and I am on my way to a full recovery!

(2/4) The more awareness we can raise about this the better! So I would like to encourage all young men to get themselves checked out.

(4/4) Thankyou to my family, friends, doctors, and the entire @EdmontonOilers organization for being so supportive during this time!

Rimmer was signed by Edmonton's AHL affiliate last season, appearing in three games for the Oklahoma City Barons but spending most of the campaign with the Quad City Mallards of the Central Hockey League. The 22-year-old has yet to appear in an NHL contest.
